Know Before You Book

What I can — and can't — notarize.

Texas law limits what a notary can legally certify. Reviewing this list ahead of time saves everyone a wasted trip.

I Can Notarize

  • Most affidavits, acknowledgments, oaths, and jurats
  • Non-recordable documents — internal company forms, school records, letters
  • Handwritten documents, provided the signer appears in person and procedure is followed

I Cannot Notarize

  • Recordable documents — birth certificates, marriage licenses, deeds, death certificates
  • Blank forms — documents with empty fields are refused as a fraud precaution
